Colombia - Cesar Serrania Del Perija

Single Origin Women's Cooperative Cesar Serrania Del Perija (Organic, Fully Washed & Dried inside Solar Dryers), COLOMBIA is sourced from family-owned farms organized around the  Asociacion de Mujeres Cafeteras Plan Mill, an all women's organization that operates in the municipality of Balcon del Cesar within the department of Cesar, Colombia. Mujeres Cafeteras was founded in 1998 and many women started planting with 1000 coffee trees as they were walking away from farming cocoa trees. Today, Mujeres Cafeteras provides technical support, and access to the international coffee market for 58 members, from which 33 farms have achieved their organic certification.

On average, produces cultivate coffee on 27 acres of land using their own micro-mills to depulp and dry coffee. Mujeres Cafeteras share the farm work with their husbands/partners. As a way of diversify their income, women are supporting their youth to start a coffee roasting program aimed to supply the local market with high quality coffee. In addition to coffee production, members of Mujeres Cafeteras harvest and sell plantains, bananas, squashes, cassava, beans, corn and yams.

This coffee is marked by exceptional cleanliness and balanced fruit flavours like orange and melon, complimented by a silky-smooth body, and vanilla and pecan-pie sweetness.
